THE DO’S AND DON'TS OF LASER AFTERCARE
Laser therapies are medical treatments that use focused light. Unlike most light sources, light from a laser is tuned to specific wavelengths allowing it to be focused into powerful beams. Lasers allow surgeons to work at high levels of precision by focusing on a small area, damaging less of the surrounding tissue. With laser treatments, you may experience less pain, swelling, and scarring than with traditional surgery. Laser treatments also make grooming habits easier than usual!
THE DO'S
1. Use the treatment gel or cream recommended by your doctor after treatment. You may also want to get more for a few days after the treatment to minimize redness or other irritation, speed healing and prepare skin for your next treatment.
2. Follow all post-treatment instructions to ensure you have the best possible results.
3. Clean the area with a mild and gentle cleanser.
4. Keep it moisturized.
5. Apply ice when swelling occurs
6. Take cool showers.
7. Exfoliate it during the next four weeks after getting the treatment.
THE DON'TS
1. Avoid very hot baths, showers, steam baths or saunas
2. Don’t swim in strong chlorinated water for two or three days.
3. Don’t use bleaching creams or perfume products for 24 to 48 hours.
4. Avoid exfoliating or peels for one week.
5. Try to avoid wearing tight clothing for two or three days.
6. Skip your makeup.
7. Avoid the sun as much as possible.
Aftercare is important after any treatments, as well!
